Tumblr Wont Allow Me to Upload Photo
aquify asked:
why exercise when i upload a photograph on mobile it appears as a text mail with an image embedded to it?
Hi! Bully question. Our mobile apps use the Neue Postal service Format (NPF).
Where our legacy mail types were based strictly on the main content type, the NPF enables you to add together different content blocks in a single post.
All new original posts created via NPF are considered legacy regular/text type posts. The semantic of a single "post type" no longer makes sense for NPF posts that can take a variety of content block types.
You tin too use the NPF on web. Enable it by turning on the Beta toggle in the elevation right corner:
[all images are described in alt text]
Let's take a closer look. Here are two posts I fabricated on my test blog:
The mail on the left is a legacy post. The post on the right is an NPF mail service. Here, they await identical.
Notwithstanding, NPF posts that contain media can wait a flake weird on your weblog if you're using a theme that relies heavily on the legacy mail service types. Check out the Tumblr theme documentation if you'd similar to tackle it on your own, or check out other theme options at tumblr.com/themes.
Farther reading:
- The Help Eye article nearly the NPF.
- This Technology blog mail service nigh the NPF.
- The NPF specs on Github.

Remember that right at present Tumblr costs a lot more to run than information technology makes, part of that bet is predicated on the idea that information technology's losing money now merely it'll abound and go far up after. We just accept to make it through this interim period by listening to users, iterating quickly, and aircraft loftier-quality updates.

I remember long ago there used to exist this feature in labs that let you encounter the reblog chains for posts, I don't know what information technology was called but it looked something like this
I left Tumblr for a while, and when I returned the feature had been removed. I remember trying to find out why it had been removed and saw a lot of people expressing interest in having information technology back, as it was a actually absurd feature that allowed yous also meet how traction was gained on a post. Would you ever consider bringing this characteristic or something similar it dorsum?
Hi @bluhbluhwarhammer, thanks for submitting this question. Also, thank you to @superwobble, @thoughtkick, and @christinaseas for asking a similar question.

Hi! I think it would exist cool if in that location was an pick like to close friends on Instagram and when you brand a post y'all can have the choice to make it visible to that group of people only.
This isn't a very of import suggestion and i recognize there's a lot of complexity to this peculiarly in the long term like. If you make a close friends postal service and so ii weeks down the line you modify your close friends list. Does that change who tin can see that post? (I think yes. Optionally, when you add together or remove people from your list, you have the option to let them come across or end being able to come across close friend posts.) So. Non necessarily super direct forward.
One manner to do information technology that i recall might be interesting is that when you make a post you tin choose a listing of users that it's visible to.
Oh wait hm too thought two. Expiring posts. I've seen enough posts tagged delete after that i recall it might be handy to be able to set up a mail service to cocky-destruct at a certain time or after a certain amount of fourth dimension has passed.
Hey @birbs-in-space, cheers for sharing these truly splendid ideas!
Nosotros don't currently have plans to limit the visibility of a post—as you've said to a higher place, that requires some serious thought.
Only! We exercise take some mail-level reblog controls coming out soon for Android, iOS, and web. These will let an OP to select who can reblog any given mail service via a toggle with options for anybody (default), people you follow, or only yourself (i.eastward., nobody else).
Potential future iterations may include a "mutuals" pick, a setting for default reblog settings, and postal service-level reply controls. But, every bit with all good things, these volition take some time.
The self-destructing post thought is a fun piffling guy and bears thinking about. We'll pass it on to someone who knows near these things.
As always, proceed an eye on @changes for the new stuff! Thanks once more for writing in. Nosotros dearest hearing your ideas!

Are in that location any plans of adding boosted features to Advertisement-Costless? Running a site is very expensive and supporting Tumblr is a good idea, merely Ad-Gratis competes directly with plugins like uBlock and Xrite which are both costless. Any plans of adding cool stuff like unique profile features for paying members? Doesn't accept to exist fancy, only I think information technology would help push Advertisement-Gratis subscriptions if people got some boosted functionality out of information technology - even if it was just new aesthetic features. Thanks!
Hey, @quinn-push-for-hugs Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately, there are no electric current plans to innovate new benefits. While we accept nothing more concrete to offer right at present, as always, we would propose you go on an eye fixed on @changes to see what'southward new.
